International 340 Qs

Looking for a better tractor (than my 200 row crop) to bush hog about a 4 acre power line. I found an international 340 gas tractor with bush hog for an ok price near me.

The issue is it has a "light knock" in the engine. What would be the likely cause of this? Haven't looked at it yet.

It would probably only be used mowing once a year. I'd hate to have rebuild the engine to use it. Any insights? Don't know what engine came in it, but I would assume a dry sleeve one?

Thanks

"Light knock" could be anything, from a butterfly screw out of the carburetor getting sucked in and bouncing around in a cylinder, to a bad rod bearing, or a loose wrist pin, or a bad main bearing... There's just no way to know.

If you'd hate to have to rebuild the engine to use it, pass on it. Don't even waste your time looking. It's not likely to turn out well if you buy it and try to nurse it through your once a year mowing project.

340 is a wet sleeve C-135 gasoline engine. Not a real common engine, only used on the 330, 340.

Thanks for the reply and info. Tractor does not look wore out, but Im not going to take the gamble.
