ive neve even seen a 340 but im assuming no, there should be some kind of shutoff or valve that seperates the filter from the transmission.
 
If it is anything like the Jap Allis where the filter is in the bottom of the transmission case you only have to take the two bolts out and bump it to find the answer.

It becomes, Oh my what a mess.

That being a yes on them.
