international 460

hey IH fans i bought a 460 gas a month ago am in the process of restoring, it is a utility and looks to have a factory 3 point hitch doesn't have powersteering, prior owner say it was a 1961, all the old farmers around here and mechanics haven't heard of a tractor like this, also doesn't have a remote hydraulic, by the way i paid $800.00 for it, tractor is all there just 2 side panels missing on the hood, any one heard of another tractor like this ?

Yes IH made a 460 utility tractor. It wouldn't have had a factory 3 pt hitch - if anything it would have been a 2 pt hitch so someone has changed it. You can add a remote hydraulic valve if you want. They can have up to 3 on them. I don't know how easy it will be to find side panels as I don't know how many were made.

There is such a thing as factory 3pt hitch on the 240 and/or 340 Utilities. It may have been an option on the 460 as well.

Instead of having separate lift arms and a top link, the IH 3pt hitch used a sort of "A-frame" that resembles a modern 3pt quick hitch.

It's a pretty rare option to find on the 240/340. If you've got a true factory 3pt hitch, it's probably super-rare.

Your 460 was probably a municipal mowing tractor, which is why it doesn't have any remotes, and has a 3pt hitch.

Don't know a lot but think the production numbers were about 1/3 of the farmalls built. Never saw one with just one hydraulic valve and a lift. They did offer what was called a industrial 3 point hitch for the international 460.

can't get the pics to download on here, this looks like a standard three point but has the hydraulic cylinder on the left side as you are looking at the back of the tractor,if this was modified it was done by a pro looks original to me

I have a freind 4 miles from here that has a International 460 utility not a Farmall 460 utility. It is a industrial non-adjust front end, yellow paint, gas model and it has a what appears to be factory 3 point with straight drawbar. I've worked on that tractor alot. It even has a foot throttle and reverser. Don't have true power steering but power asist. It's slow turning and you can't turn very fast.
