INTERNATIONAL 500E DOZER

A FRIEND RECIENTLY PURCHASED AN INTERNATIONAL 500E, 1977???? QUESTION IS, WHO MANUFACTURED THE 3 CYL. DIESEL ENGINE. UP TO NOW WE CAN SEE THAT IT WAS MADE IN NEUSS GERMANY???? ANY HELP??? THANKS RAY. ZAMISKA

Was around ih when we sold the things and was all ways of the oppinion it was an IH made engine . If anyone knows diffrent I would like to know..BD 154 comes to mine but that may have been the 4 cyl versions. They were not much lots of transmission problems. They replaced the old td 340.

The engine is a D-155, 3.875"bore x 4,375" stroke, rated 44hp @ 2500rpm in the 500E. The engine was manufactured by International Harvester at their plant in Neuss Germany. It belonged to a family of engines D-155(3cyl) D-206(4cyl) & D-310(6cyl). The D-155 was also used in the model 385 & 395 Ag tractors.
There was also a second family of Neuss engines that had the same bore but a longer stroke. These were D-179, D-239, & D-359.
