looking to buy a 650 diesel, has power steering one outlet tack and radiator shutters. needs tires. all the sheet metal is stright but has suface rust. havent herd it run yet pump leaks in to the crankcase. what is this worth and what should i look for when it runs? thanks

if it was a real working tractor when it was parked i'd be amazed if it doesn't have a cracked head. check for bubbles in rad when running. gotta hope it wasn't run long with fuel in crankcase. could have wiped the mains($$$$$$). they usually also need a seal between the primary and main fuel pump. check for warped starting valves. rad core isn't real cheap either.
in my opinion any 9 series diesel is nice to buy running because they are extremely expensive to fix. and if ya can't hear it run ya never know how deep the rabbit hole goes.
not tryin to discourage you. there's nothin quite like a well tuned d335 or d350. just make sure ya know what yer gettin into

and drive it to see how the trans. is. lot of them have noisy 3rd gear. the brgs. in trans need to be changed on a reg basis as they are known for a weak trans. applies to the super WD9, 600 and 650.thats why the 560 was built around the W6 trans.because it was trouble free. the 650 was not classed as a good tractor but the collectors go after them. something like the WK40 was ihc worst blunder but collectors really go for them.not discouraging you but giving an idea what to expect. they do look good when all redone.
