International Tachometer

I am looking at purchasing an international tachometer to potentially use on our MM U302 super as you can't get replacements for these. The issue I have is that I need to confirm if the international tachs are 1:1 ratio or 2:1. Any of the tachs that don't show speed or gears in them are my preference. I want a tach like the ones on the international 454, 464, 674, 484, 584, 684, 784, etc. (3125106r92) that just has the rpm range shown. I need a tach that doubles the speed of the cable (2:1 ratio).

Here you go at the link it crosses to the number you gave, but I suppose you are more interested in confirming the ratio. Give them a call maybe they can contact the tech people of their supplier to get you an answer.

Awhile back there was somebody posted a place that reworked gages and such.

The supplier of these tachometers is an overseas factory. They were given an original tachometer and told, "copy this, make lot of them, and make them cheap." They're not going to know anything about ratio, if you can even contact them and get past the language barrier.

The owner of Star Speedometer would know this information, or be able to look it up as he has undoubtedly worked on these.

Alternatively, you can just go ahead and buy the tach, hook it up, see what it reads, and go from there. It's a 50/50 chance of being right or needing a 2:1 ratio. There are gearboxes you can purchase to gear up or gear down the tach drive to whatever is necessary.

If you have the original tach from the 302 I would send it to Star Speedometer in Florida and have it redone. Haim has restored quite a few tachs for me and does a good job.
