Is a camera a tool?

I am having problems with my easy share kodak camera,it is only 2 months old, when you turn it on the lens comes out, then goes right back in and shuts off, anyone ever have this happen?

Check/replace batteries, see if problem goes away. Wife"s Cannon only works with very good (NEW) batteries. Battery tester shows used batteries as still good, but camera doesn"t like them anymore.

x3 for low or weak batteries. I have found that may as well spend for the premium alkaline batteries on a camera, as the regular or heavy duty non alkaline type do not hold up well at all.

I had a Kodak that was picky about batteries. If the batteries had been on the shelf for a while but unused it would do exactly what you are describing. I had the best luck with high quality rechargeable batteries. It was frustrating to buy new batteries and the camera still wouldn't work.

Hello Larry@stinescorner,

If the battery is a NiCad, it may have to be totally discharged before it will take a charge.
Have you check the voltage on the battery and the charger? You can go to your back up camera for now? You got to keep them pictures coming, or I'll have a withdrawal,

Guido

Hello Guido! I used your camera, and took many, many pictures with it! But it doesnt work anymore, but it sure did take a lot of pictures, and you probably took a lot with it too..Thanks again,,,, Larry

Hello LarrY@stinescorner,

You're welcome. That camera went to Mexico and many other places, never missed a lick. I took many pictures as well. It was a hand me down, and my son had taken many pictures as well. It was ready to go I guess. So what is happening with the new one? If the battery is NiCad, make sure it it totally discharged before you recharge it. Can you measure voltages at both the battery and the charger?, it may reveal something. Usually the charger goes first. I have many chargers for NiCads. Post the model number and I'll see if I can do more trouble shooting for you. Chargers wires break at the output plug end and are easy to repair or replace. Or it may have stopped working.

Guido.
