Is My Engine Ruined?

I have an old MF 70 with a Perkins A4.318 Diesel engine in it. My water pump failed and in the time it took to replace it, the crankcase oil had a lot of pure water in it, not antifreeze. Machine was uncovered in the rain. I have not turned over the engine yet, but did drop the pan and cleaned out all the water and oil. Filled it with new oil. Machine is now covered,
but temps are below freezing. Any ideas on how to handle this mess?

wait till the frost is out of the block
fill the radiator just with water and do a pressure test on the radiator if pressure stay's up then you know that the coolant side is good when engine is cold.I once had a case which was seized and there was water on top of the pistons
the sleeves were pitted and had to be replaced
do one step at a time if all works out make sure to replace the water with radiator fluid.
