Is this a David Bradley engine

Can anyone tell me if this is a david Bradley engine. I know it's not the original engine for this Bachtold mower. The bore is 2.75 and the stroke is 2.375. The block is aluminum. No ID number on engine anywhere ID plate is missing.

Looks like a 8 hp Briggs & Stratton.

Maybe Briggs made it for DB?

The label does say David Bradley. If you look to the lower right below the label, you will see the "B" and "S" stamped into the sheet metal.

Look behind and below the air cleaner/carb and the gas tank. It was either stamped into the shroud or there was a riveted tag on it. You should find either stamped numbers or rivet holes.

I have a 1970s 14 hp Briggs and the numbers are hard to find below the carburator.

I see what it is. Looks very dangerous. Be extra careful and watch out for the kids if you fire it up and connect the belt.

This same unit was on here a few weeks ago. It is a B&S engine and the claim has been made that B&S built it with out any ID numbers so the owner would have to go back to David Bradley (Sears) for parts. They have since disavowed any knowledge of it. A B&S manual should be able to allow the owner to ID the motor and "fabricate" a B&S model number, or they could bring it to a competent small engine place and they'll know what parts he needs.

The mower is a bachtold, the engine is a briggs. An engine using that style DB tag would be a 143402, also known as a 6hp. DB had nothing to do with bachtold. The engine is from the 60"s the mower from the 70"s. The normal engine for the mower would ahve been an 8hp briggs in the 70"s.
