Ive searched the forums and havent had any luck finding where this has previously been asked. Im sure it has, so maybe Im not efficient with the search function.
Anyways, heres my question.
Ive been having a issue getting my 8n to start. Its been a year since Ive got it to turn over. Ive even ran my battery dead a few times trying.
Today I thought Id give it another go.
Gas on, check.
Plenty of gas in the tank, check.
Made sure gas was getting to the carb. Check.
Crank, crank, crank. No start.
So I pulled the breather tube from the air filter to the carb and gas came out of the carb. I assume at this point it was flooded.
Gave it a few minutes and tried again and it fired right up and ran most excellent.
So I decided my trouble lies in it not getting air. But why?
I pulled the oil cup (pictured) off the bottom of the filter housing and there was quite a bit of oil in the inner part as well as the outer ring. Is this normal? Can it get air if both parts are filled with oil? I should have left the oil in before I took the pic.
It ran like a beast without anything hooked up to the air inlet side.
