It's a leaker now

It's back to the repair lab. The tractor was split back in December to replace the worn out clutch. Since it was split already, I replaced everything that was replaceable, all the clutch parts and all the other things, including the release bearing, engine seal, etc. Fast forward to springtime, and now it leaks oil.
I assume it has to be from the rear engine seal, right? Where else would oil come from, oil pan? I haven't got into it yet. I know opening it up again will answer it all. I'm just wishing and hoping for anything other than having to split it again.

I wish I could offer you an easy fix, Tod. But oil leaks can sometimes be hard to track down. I certainly hope you don't have to split it again. Don

Seems to me; that the flywheel would be totally covered if it was rear seal; another clue, oil is on the front side of the FW cover, mebbe could possibly be rear of the oil pan?

Certainly double check the oil pan, had that happen on a 630 that I had split numerous times to get the clutch adjusted right. Made me sick thinking it was the rear main. When I cleaned the area up and looked close (dusted with flour) it became evident it was the pan.

Liike you, I had had my 411 split to replace the ring gear. After getting it back together, just in the nick of time to go on a 3 day tractor ride. I found it to be leaking, pretty seriously. I just kept adding oil til we came home. The oil pan gaskets at the back end are a bit tricky and require attention to detail in their installation. New pan gasket set and all was well. Wishing you a speedy repair. What would we do without frustration LOL gobble

I am with Tom on correcting your oil leak. It is as he says, tricky to set that rear part of the oil pan gasket. Use a cross pattern as you torque up th bolts. Tighter is not always as you draw up the bolts on the oil pan. CM

To all that said look into the Oil Pan. That is where I will start. I'll get a new pan gasket. Now tell me the tried and true methods of only doing it once. Let me know your preferred sealant, methods, swear words, prayers, or voodoo chants, that it's one and done. Thank you all!

Follow the above methods work for me. But in all honesty I like the gasket maker in order to help seal up oily ones. Put the gasket maker on run the bolts up hand tight and let it sit overnight. Come back the next day and torque down the bolts and you should be good to go I'll include a picture of my favorite sealer to use.

I like that type of sealant for top plates and I understand your method on the oil pan but I got to use a gasket.

I'll get a gasket. Do you use a gasket AND the sealer?

That's with the gasket, sorry. I put it on both sides the gasket, hand tighten, set up then torque down
I should have said that the first time

When you had the tractor split, did you replace the pilot bearing, seal & oring on the back of the flywheel? By the looks of things, I think that is where your leak is.
Sure did, John. We replaced everything inside the clutch housing bearings, seals, and O rings. I plan to get it spilt again tomorrow(Thurs 5/30). It's definitely engine oil. Hopefully, it will be obvious what's wrong. Thanks for your help.
