after 20 minutes or so of frustration trying the ice pick method i took off the left side inspection plate. could not get it started myself as the bracket needed to be pushed against the tractor housing. after the wife got home from church we both attacked it. i held the bracket against the tractor housing with a long screwdriver and she started the screw.

Maybe if you would have gone with your wife (to Church) it would have come off with less stress and work!!! I'm just saying
