I pulled a plug and some kerosine came out. Does this mean?.....

Regardless, i found a carb and possibly a mag, and a muffler for it. First question, how does the muffler attatch to the mainfold??

Second question, where would i find a seat cushion and bottom, the frame is allready there.

Third question, How should i loosten up the brake levers that are apperentally rusted in place? I guess penetrating oil for em'

Forth question, how do i know when its loose if it is loose right now??? Im planning to jack it up so all the weight is on the crank and it should pop and the front end will land on the ground.

Fifth question, The shifter is a little stiff, how do i correct that?? Should be alot easier. Is it just thick oil?? Should i replace the tranny oil??

sixth question, There is rust in the gas tank. Should i somehow remove it???

Seventh question, Yall want some pics???

Eight question, have 2 additional Torque tubes for a B one of which has a starter hole on it Anybody interested?? Make an offer.

1) the muffler should slide into the manifold and has a bolt that goes through both of them
2) check on ebay for seats they are around 35.00 I think
3) yes penetrating oil on the brake levers

On #4, whoa!!! Jacking up on the crank to free an engine is pretty extreme. There are other things to try first.

As to whether it's stuck, take your plugs out, put the tranny in neutral and apply the handcrank to it. If it turns, it's loose.

If it's stuck, get into the archives. THere are all sorts of ways to loosen 'em up.

Kerosene means that they were trying to soak the motor loose.
#1. Slips on and probally clamps down.
#2. Online. Try the store here.
#3. Spray on the penetrating oil and work them loose.
#4. If it is spinning it is loose. Make sure plugs are out and motor not stuck hard before doing the jack thing, safer bet is take the head off and free it with a block of wood and heavy hammer.
#5. Change the fluid. Probally got water in and rusted some.
#6. Take off tank and either have it professonaly cleaned or clean it yourself. Old trick is to rattle some bolts and nuts around in the tank to loosen the rust.
#7. Yes.
#8. No, no need.

Buy a book for the tractor, invest in a couple how to restore a tractor books, and ask plenty of questions.

Congrats, Lanse! I'm a Farmall man myself, but picked up an Allis CA and some extra parts when a friend moved to Texas. Keep those extra torque tubes until you are sure they aren't needed. It may be that when you tear into your B that one of the "extra" torque tubes is in better shape than the one on the tractor. I found a couple cracks in mine when I got looking, and was glad that I had acquired an extra one in the pile of parts I got.

For the seat, I'd recommend making your own, at least until you have the rest restored. Get some 3/4 plywood, give it a couple good coats of exterior paint and let it dry real good. Then get a "camping pad" that's about 3 ft by 6 ft by 3 or 4 inches of open cell foam, and go to the fabric store and get some naugahyde. Cut the plywood about 3/8 inch undersize of the final cushion, cut pieces of the pad (if you anticipate a BIG feller using it, the seat should maybe have two thicknesses of foam) a little larger than the plywood, then cut naugahyde big enough to wrap it all up. The naugahyde gets attached to the plywood with staples from an electric staple gun. You'll probably need to drill a couple holes in the plywood for the seat to let air out when you sit down on it. I did the seat back and bottom for my IH 300 Utility, figure I have about $12 invested ($3 for the pad, $9 for the naugahyde, I had a piece of plywood already). Reason I did my own was because I'm cheap and I could laminate 3 pieces of 1/4 inch plywood over a form to make a curved seat back, and couldn't find one like I wanted anywhere.

how much rust is in the gas tank? if its just a little then you can fill her with gas then take a cow magnet on some good tough wire and set the magnet down into the tank where the gas goes into the sediment bowl as the gas flows by the magnet will catch the rust the wire is so you canget the magnet back out of it for cleaning and such so make sure its long enough
