J.D. 50 pukeing water

I bought this tractor a few months back . after draining and refilling .It pukes water after it runs a few minutes while driving on the road in 6 th gear wide open . Thought it might would have been overfull and was just getting air out of the system , but this has happened at least on 4 occasions . dont no if there is a thermostat in it . temp gauge starts at 170 but has never moved . I believe it is stuck . tractor does not seem to be boiling over just puking for a minute then stop .

overfil line might be stoped up,no thermostat.

How about a small head GASKET leak, till it gets EXPANSION and seals up???????????

After 1st start up does it miss on one cylinder?
Do you smell antifreeze? If so it's a head
gasket or a crack. If not look at thermostat
or colapsed straight radiator hose. Or possible
plugged up radiato core. Those would be my
guess's...

The water pump can pull air by the seal and bubble on a 50. Start it and run it with the rad. cap off untill you see the bubbles coming. Cover the leak hole in the water pump bearing area. You may be able to hold your finger over it if you are carefull or tape it. If the bubbles go away rebuld the pump. If they don't Its a crack or gasket.

You didn't say WHERE it pukes the water from and HOW MUCH. If it comes from the overflow pipe, it could be as simple as too full. Does it happen just in 6th gear? Just because it has puked on "at least 4 occasions" doesn't eliminate the fact that it may be too full.

no it puked water also while I was bushogging in 3rd gear--it comes out around the radiator cap for about 30 seconds and quits then does it again in about 5 minutes later . Its like its building up pressure then puking it out till it gets relief .one post said might be air from the water pump --gonna look into that . any other ideas to look into .

This is going to sound mean, but it's not.

I guess we could speculate and throw ideas at you all day but without a working temp gauge, going to be pretty tough. Replace that and then come back.

If it heats up REALLY fast, you'd want to look towards a combustion leak.
If it's not really overheating, but puking water, then maybe you have an air bubble in it (water pump).

Or you could just start throwing parts at it until you find the problem.

Did it do the "puking" before you drained and refilled? Another possibility, the radiator cap may have lost some or all of its pressure.

no your not sounding mean----I just didnt know if the water has even gotten hot enough to move the gauge ---also the water pump is weeping some out the weep hole so it could be the air coming back in. Thx for everyones input .
