J.D. D Magneto installation

Just got a 1948 D and am swapping out the Splittendorf magneto for a Wico X magneto. So for the splittendorf magneto there is an
adapter shown in the photo that is not vertical, it's tilted to the left. The position of the driving slot is level in relation to
the adapter, but not to real level. In other words, what is the gear setup on this adapter. As shown, the flywheel is lined up with
the LH Impulse mark. Can this adapter be repositioned to be true vertical, does it really matter, or am I searching for an issue that
doesn't exist? The previous owner says this tractor had a long history of starting fine one day, and not the next. Spark from the
magneto seemed to be weak.
Thanks for any inputs!

Thanks, Teddy. Bolted the new magneto up today and was extremely happy when the D fired right up! Going to change all of the fluids before going any further. Then need to replace the rusted out left front rim. Thanks again!
