JD 1008 mower

I'm looking at buying a JD 1008 10' rotary mower and would like to know if anyone here has one and any comments plus or minus. Also, approx. weight. I would be using it on a JD 4320 for mowing a pasture and weeds along treelines.

Thanks.

I don't know the weight of a 1008 but you won't have a weight problem if it's a not a CUT 4320 but a '71-'72 model. I've rented an MX 8 and it cut wonderful compared to a 6 ft cutter I own.

It's a '71 with a 158 loader. Reason I asked about the mower weight is if I remove the loader, will I need to install weights on front. That would be a hassle removing the loader frame to add starter and slab weights.

I think frt weights wouldn't be required. If frt weights were required if I were you I'd get a JD suitcase weight bracket[part #R117599 SUPPORT (SUB FOR AR72132)] that will bolt to the frt of your tractor and the 2 loader side mounting bracket will attach to it. Then just slip suit case weights on the bracket. BTDT

Need more info on the JD 1008. Is it a full three point cutter??? Some of them are a two point. They do not have a top link you lift the back with a hydraulic cylinder. Then you have full pull type So what type are you looking at?

The JD 1008 is a good cutter with twin counter rotating blades/gear boxes. That make them spread the after cut very even. Much better than a single rotor one.
