I have a 1020 that the PTO disengages when the clutch is engaged. everything I've read is these have live PTO. I know your suppose to engage the clutch half way to stop the transmission and all the way to stop the PTO.
is there something I'm missing or is it possible that mine does not have the live PTO option?

1020's could have the "transmission driven" pto option. Also the the pressure plate fingers may be adjusted incorrectly. I'd look in through clutch housing inspection hole.

The 1020 was made with both,in the tech manual I have it has a transmission driven PTO section and a live power PTO section.Yours is probably the trans. driven or non live model.

the ones I have worked on have a dual clutch assembly. on for the pto and one for the transmission. push clutch down 1/2 way the tractor stops. all the way the pto stops.

It appears either an overly economical individual ordered the tractor new with a trans driven pto. Or ordered it with a power reverser.

In some parts of the country (mainly the South) alot of 1020's were sold without live pto. We use to sell alot of used tractors and bought one or two 1020 that came that way.
