JD 1020 w/ 37 Loader

I have a John Deere 1020 with a 37 loader on it. I recently rebuilt the cylinders on the loader, as the loader would not pick up much and moved very fast. Unfortunately fixing the seals on the cylinders did not fix this. When moving the loader up and down the loader goes really fast and bounces the tractor bad. The tilt for the bucket moves slow like it should. Any suggestions on why this loader moves so quickly?

How long have you had this tractor? Has it been like this the entire time you have had it or is it something that recently occurred?

Leaking cylinder packings or low relief pressure will affect power. Did the repair of the lift cylinders correct the power issue, but not the speed?

Does you loader have its own two spool valve or are you using the SCVs for loader control? If it has its own valve do you know if it is the original JD valve or has it been replaced.

Have you checked hydraulic pressure?

I have had this tractor for almost a year now and it has always been
fast. The older gentlemen who had it before me said it was fast as
well. I gained a little power by repacking the cylinders, but not much
and it did not correct the speed. It has a two spool valve on the right
side. I have not yet found a number on the valve body to check it.

The speed may just be a function of pump flow, control valve design and size. Do you pull the lever to the end of stroke when you lift it? Will it move slower if you feather/ease into the control lever, not pulling it full open? It is not uncommon for operators to feather hydraulic controls to slow movements.

As for power it sounds like a pressure check is in order to start with.
