Decided to get my tractor out and run it. Been sitting
awhile, usally i put gas in it and jump it and it starts
right up. Gonna give it a try tomorrow, this battery is
dead, try charging if, if not ill jump it off the car, and
see if she’ll start!

I bought an old 1970 JD 110 about twenty years ago for fifty bucks. Somebody installed a new 8 horse Kohler eng. in it but no oil apparently, had a hole in block where the rod went through, The hood had the front lip missing and a chunk busted out of the rear. It had an almost new mower deck. I spent days fitting a 10 horse Kohler in it and used about two fiberglass kits on the hood.

Drained the carb, and tractor started right up, readjusted carb and i drove the little JD around, even starts on key, not sure how long battery will last? It was fun, good old iron, ps i like the old leaping deer emblem, vs the one today. You

I guess the mower deck has a problem, blades wont spin, i wanna take the deck off anyway for more room in my garage!

That's a nice, straight-looking old tractor. It might be offended that you called it a "lawn tractor" though! Those things were built heavy and were made to work hard for a long time. Good quality garden tractors like these are a dying breed any more. Mowing duties have been taken over by ZTR's and most folks who have gardens big enough to warrant something more than a walk-behind tiller have gone to compact utility tractors. I had a nice 1975 212 (the replacement for the 112) that I gave to my dad and it still gets frequent use at the folks' place. Had to make more room in the shed for the four other vintage garden tractors (Cub Cadet 100 and 1200, Ariens S-16H, and a Power King 2418) that all get regular use around the acreage. I doubt many of the lawn/garden tractors built these days will still be alive and well when they're ~50 years old like yours is.

That is a good looking 112. I have a 112 too. I just put it away for the winter. I have newer mowers I use but the old 112 still works good. Someday I would like to restore it. I have the Kohler engine on mine.

".....and most folks who have gardens big enough to warrant something more than a walk-behind tiller have gone to compact utility tractors."

Get yourself a little 24 hp compact utility tractor with 4wd and a FEL for doing odd jobs around the place.....amazing how you will find uses for it when it's there.....and add a PTO driven rototiller......the garden task is a piece of cake....one trip and she's ready to plant. For weeding jobs get a little 2 stroke Mantis, again the handiest little sucker you ever put your palms around and "weeds be gone".

One really handy use is for cleaning out or changing blades on that ZT you mentioned. Move the ZT anywhere you want, hook a chain on the front frame and onto the bucket of the compact (I welded a chain hook on the top center of the bucket for this purpose) and in a heartbeat the under side of the deck is easily accessible.
