JD 146 Front End Loader

I recently purchased a JD 2555 with a 146 FEL. I am fairly new to equipment ownership, so I have some questions that are probably easy for those in this forum.

I'm wanting to add forks for lifting nut boxes, and a grapple to push prunings/trees (I have two open remotes, if needed). I don't want to break the bank, but what options should I be looking at? I found some quick attach conversions that would allow skid steer compatible attachments.

Secondly, my bucket is older and has cracks/thin spots, especially just behind the front cutting surface. Should I purchase some steel and scab on reinforcements (what gauge)? Is this worth the effort?

Anything else to be aware of on a 2555?

Congratulations on purchasing a nice looking tractor. I suggest to change loader hyd control to a joystick with return oil attached to ported filter cover. This will free up scv's for grapple plus other rear attachments.

To operate grapple just route some hoes or tubes from scv breakaways to cross tube with female breakaway couplers to attach grapple if you intend to not have grapple mounted 100% of the time

Nice looking outfit.
I would not just ?slab? metal on your bucket. Maybe replace the bottom/floor. If this is beyond your skill find a good welding shop.
I strongly support your skid steer attachment plate idea or some form of quick tach means. Then buy forks and grapple for that. Also convert your bucket for the quick tach. That in my mind is the right and best way you will really like. It might be more expensive than pins but much easier to use and switch.
There are shortcuts like forks attached to the front edge of your bucket (might be how your bucket floor got cracked) and a top arm/fork attached to the top edge of your bucket. I see this approach as a poor half measure.
Tx Jim gave you great advice on hydraulics although it sounds like you are already in a good place hydraulics wise.
Have fun. Paul
