JD 1650 weak 3pt once warm

At 1st start up tractor will pick up 8ft bushhog all the way up.
10-15min in once warm will pick up just enough to raise bushhog tires off the ground.
Changed hydraulic filter but same.

My thought would be the rockshaft piston seal based on high viscosity cold fluid lifts and warm doesn't. Which bypasses the seal... .maybe

I have never been into the rockshaft housing before but do have manual.

Any thoughts/advice

Have you checked/cleaned the hyd oil suction screen lately??

Can filter changed yesterday. Screen will come out today it was really dirty on the housing so I didn't pull yet.
But troubleshooting thought on that would be why works cold but not warm? If blocked should be no working at all times

Some of the crud that gets on a screen when running can drop away, opening the screen up some, when setting. Then when the oil is cold crud isn't moving as much so it works for a few minutes. As the oil warms the crud can get moving again and restricts the screen again.

Got it! Im going to cut the filter today to inspect the old filter condition. Ill get pictures of the screen.

thermal relief valve ?

thermal relief valve ?
Please explain how you think thermal relief valve could affect 3pt hitch operation following OP's operation description of "warm oil"? I was under the understanding thermal relief valve came into use when rockshaft was attempting to rotate to far forward when in raised position or heat from sunlight caused oil to expand in rockshaft housing.

1st picture Raised at cold start. Held this position for 20min. Lowered and 2nd picture was highest it would raise warmed up. So it did not bleed off while running

So, this is a Yanmar JD 1650? Do they have the same hydraulic set up like a Waterloo Row Crop or a Mannheim Utility? No sure how the rock shaft and all is on a Yanmar JD.

1650 hyd system isn't similar to JD rowcrop or utility hyd closed center system. 1650 has open center hyd system

I thought there were some differences in the Yanmar machines.

Seems like a lot of bush hog for a machine that only weighs 5,000 lbs to me. It listed as a utility, but more like a compact in my eyes.

So pulled the screen... not so bad small metal flakes looks similar engine break in style residue

Cut oil filter open as well and very clean.

No that is a paper weight for tht machine. Great hp and feel with the 4wd. I'd buy another in a heartbeat

Couple of side note tests that may be tell tell signs of other things

1. Will raise the implement without issue cold and hold while engine is running

2. When 3pt is raised and engine is turned off it instantly drops (this would be there effect of worn rockshaft piston/seal) right?

Seal in and problems gone. Also bushhog stays up after engine off.

Pump lives to see another day!

Thanks for the support!
@Tx Jim i owe you one you have came in with solid humble words of advice on both of my tractors I appreciate you

Hi, I'm late to the conversation. I have the same issue with the rotted out seal. Can you provide me the part number for that seal kit. Thanks
