JD 175 Loader Pins

Hello everyone. New guy here. I've spent a few days searching old threads on anything related to the JD 2240 & the 175 Loader. I've learned a lot. Even about topics that I'm not particularly having issues with. However, I do have a question I haven't seen yet. The 175 Loader I have currently has a homemade hay spear mounted to it, but I did get the original bucket. The hay spear rack is connected to the loader with an assortment of pins/bolts, whatever could be used at the time. I'm looking for the original pins, part #AW26091 & #AW26090 with absolutely no luck so far. Are these impossible to get now? Does anyone know some possible sources?

Thanks in advance for any info/help.

Welcome to the forums.

You say you are having no luck so far. Where have you checked? Are you just web searching? It wouldn't surprise in if they are not out there as aftermarket parts.

Have you talked to your John deere Dealer and they can't order them in for you?

The price I see at the dealer I use would totally destroy $400 for those 4 pins.

AW26090 replaces AW21749 and AW26091 replaces AW21984. You can try searching the original pin numbers on the web. I got a couple hits using those numbers, but they were still costly.

I go to a machine shop and get some cold rolled stock the right size or have them make pins. They will tell you what they have in house for good pin stock. McMaster Carr will have something for stock and maybe even pins that will work. You need the dimensions OD and length to get something other than by part number.

Thanks for the reply. I have done mostly web searching, using both the old & new numbers. I think I found one on Ebay finally. I have not contacted the local dealer yet, as I already know that will be costly, and you're right, those will destroy $400 or more. I can probably have some made at work, but I don't have any dimensions. I suppose the O.D. would be easy enough, but I don't know if there is a proper length. I thought I'd prefer to have JD pins, but that's not looking like a feasible option at the moment.

You said you have the original bucket. Measure the ears where the pins go. "Reverse engineer" the pins using dimensions of the holes they go in. You have everything there to figure the pins with.

Edit to correct spelling

What diameter are the pins? You may find hitch pins at the farm store that you could cut to the proper length.

If your pins are 1"D like mine, check with your local junk yard. i bought 3, 3' long 1"D rods for scrap price about 10 yrs ago. I still have 2 of them JIC.
I cut 1 to lengths desired with a cutoff blade on my shop grinder, drilled a hole in one end for a ¼ locking pin on my drill press.

Something to think about if you are taking attachments on and off a lot get a adapter.
