I purchased a '62 2010 Diesel last summer at an auction from a family friend's estate. Struggled with starting over the winter for plowing. The other day, I went to start it and it churned for a little bit and then completely stopped. No click, no hum, no nothing.
There are two starter solenoids in line, a smaller solenoid connected to the solenoid on top of the starter. The wire linking the smaller to the original melted down and there is a lot of scorching on the face of the original starter.
I pulled the + cable off the battery and replaced the wire, hooked everything back up and when I pressed the starter button got one click and then nothing. If I disconnect the battery and reconnect it, I'll get a single click and then nothing. I'm assuming that one of the solenoids is fried? Any suggestions or ideas?
I have looked at the wiring diagrams for 12V and this tractor only has a single battery. There is also a LOT of spliced, jumpered, and old-farmer- engineered wiring behind the dash. I'm going to have to find a wiring diagram to clean that mess up as well.
