Hi , I have a jd 2140 that the balancer shaft has eated out the bearings and stuffed the block . What other jd engines fit in a 2140 .
Being In New zealand , i would quess that it is euro sourced rather than usa, if that changes anything.
What size engine did these tracors use?
regards
roger

A qualified machine shop can repair your block if it's not broken out.
I think that engine was used in European tractors before in US tractors. If you want to go backwards I would say maybe a 2120 and more sure on a 2130.

those had a 4.239T motor, 4 cylinder turbo engine, i had a 2140 and it spun a balancer shaft bushing, deere makes a oversized bushing you can get, part number R91708. a deere 2750 had the same engine in them and a 2755 too i belive, a 2120 had the 4.219 engine so it might not work.

2850 motor, or the later 6000 series motor with the electric fuel shut off can go in, repower kits were available from Deere for these. Give Millars in Leeston a call.

Didn't some European tractors have a non-turbo 239? Could that have been a 2120? Seems I have seen something with one. As far as I know the 2750 was the first tractor sold in the US with a 239 and it was turboed.

2120 had a 219 cid engine

Here's the models JD shows that used a 239 cid engine
2011 - 3430 and 3830 Self-Propelled Windrowers - 11May11
3153 - 4239D, 4239T, 4329A (3.9L) OEM Engines (Saran) - 10Oct11
3180 - 415B, 515B Backhoe Loaders - 16Jun06
4145 - Combines 925, 935, 945 - 30Jan06 ( FR DE IT ES SV )
4162 - COMBINE 952 - 30Aug01 ( FR DE IT ES SV )
4174 - 2040S, 2140 Tractors ( -429999) European Edition - 18Apr13 ( FR DE IT ES SV )
4185 - 2140 Tractor (430000- ) - 18Apr13 ( FR DE IT ES SV )
4188 - 2750 Tractor (North American Edition) - 18Apr13
4197 - 1032,1042,1052 COMBINE - 30Aug01 ( FR DE IT ES SV )

There was a guy in MS that brought tractors in from Europe. Both JD and Ford. That's where I first saw a 239 but I can't remember what it was in. It didn't have a turbo. When 2750's came out I remembered that tractor. This would have been some years before the 2750 and before the plastic nose on the hood. I guess it's not important just one of those things.

Thanks for all info
cheers
Looking into a 2nd hand block ,or fitting the bigger bushes that run the standard bearing on the balancer shafts .
