our church pastor is hot and heavt to get a loader tractor with a mower.

i'm gonna be the maintenance... so i've been loking for a 45-70hp ford.. someone emailed the pastor about a 86 2150 with laoder and mower for 8K$

i know nuttin about that model.

any info and idea of value? it should be about 50hp i think. I have worked on and used a 2240 etc..

I am a "50 series" JD guy in addition to the 2 8ns I have. For this price, go with it. The deal is worth 10k + (which is a deal) all day long in addition the 50 series are some of the best that JD ever made despite alot of the engines being made by Yanmar. With that being said, you cannot kill one of these diesels. The best thing is that there is no cheap plastic on the 50 series which ended before the 90"s when pastic hoods etc was added. In a sense, it the last last chance (50 series) to own real john deere stuff minus the purist arguments about the engines but let me tell you my 50 series will out work any modern plastic JD on the market. They are tanks. Hope this helps.

I prefer ford, since i'll be working on it. but if nothing better comes up.. this is moving near the top of the list..

I m with you on Ford but these tractors are straight forward if it becomes the selection. You won't work on it much.

knowing the paster.. I'l be replacing hyd hoses. patching tires. welding loader parts and repalcing clutches and brakes often..
