What is the entire process of getting the rear wheels to move on the axle shaft inward? I need the whole process involved for a 1 man operation.

Here is the procedure from the 2550 Operator's Manual (OML55481).

You can download and save a free copy of the manual at the JD Ag Bookstore. Click on Equipment Publications. On that page change the Model # search to Part #/Keyword. Type OML55481 in the box and search, it should bring that Operator's Manual up. Use the download icon to the right of the title to download it (pdf) to your device.

Clean up the axle shafts. Spray Kroil or equivalent on everything, the hub both sides and the bolts and adjuster shaft, both sides. Have patience, coat again tomorrow. Start the process as described in the manual. Loosen the wedge bolts and push-off studs. Hit the 5 with a large hammer. Still have patience. Spray again with Kroil. Get it into the wedges. Let it soak. Go to bed. By tomorrow it will break loose. Nine times outa 10, they break loose pretty well. Yours doesn't look too bad.

Loosen the three inner and outer bolts enough to spin the washers, Then turn in the pusher bolts( I usually remove the pusher bolts and grease/anti-seize the threads) then drive it around the yard, blade the driveway etc. Loosened an A (different style hub) by just driving around the section, 4 miles. A little swerving and if you have a driveway with a gentle side stope, drive on the slope along the drive.

That looks fairly clean. Jack axle housing up, apply penetrating oil, loosen wedge bolts, and apply socket to jack bolts.
