JD 2cyl. diesel

When you say smokes... that means....

black?

blue?

white?

Each color indicates a difference. Black means dumping fuel in the cylinders, blue means blowby, and white means antifreeze is getting into the block.

If it is some black smoke at a load at full throttle that is normal. If it is excessive it could be a dirty or plugged up air filter or breather.Possibly a previous owner has set up the pumps,or it could have badly worn injectors,be out of time,or the engine itself has wear issues. If it is blue smoke, then you have an oil consumption problem, white would indicate coolant leaking into the combustion chambers,or the engine is running too cold to fully burn the fuel.
