Did a complete fluid and filter change on a 3005 (john deere filters and Hygard), Everything is good. tried out the loader, cycled up and down and tilt several times, and drove the tractor around, all good. This morning started it up, tried to lift the loader and it went up about halfway then stopped. I lowered it and now it will not raise up at all, only the tilt works. Any ideas? Thanks

Did you check the fluid level again? Is it parked on a hard surface that would show if the fluid leaked out. Sorry, but it needs to be asked is the drain plug tight?

Always check the quick couplers in the system. One not fully connected can cause the condition you describe. A non-functioning connector on the lift lowering circuit can deadhead the return to the reservoir. It will allow the arms to lift until the pressure in the lowering side meets/exceeds the lift pressure, then lift stops. If it has held pressure on the lowering side, it might not lift much if any at all when tried. This may not be the problem but it only cost a few minutes of your time to check and rule it out.

the tractor was level when i checked the fluids, and the connections are correct on the quick connects. Just guessing but I think there is something in the hydraulic lines that plugging up the cylinders.

The connections can be on the correct mating point but not fully seat. I suggest unplugging them and reconnecting them, making sure they are fully engaged. I find it hard to believe anything got into the hydraulic lines.

Does this mean you checked the fluids again when you had the problem? I am not suggesting that the tractor was on a non-level surface and that the reading was wrong. I am suggesting the drain plug maybe was not tightened correctly and the fluid leaked out. Maybe it is parked outside or in a shed with a graveled floor that would soak the leaking fluid up. I do agree If the system is out of oil it would be odd for the tilt cylinders to work. I think Jim has a very valid point about the checking the hoses for proper coupling mating. Something getting in the system to plug it is very unlikely. Could be the smallest chance there may have been something in the filter that was screwed on. The problem is it would have to make it through the pump’s “pumping section” which is very likely a set of gears. It would be difficult for a piece of debris big enough to clog something to make it through the pump.
