I recently purchased a JD 317 (C317L 201067) at a local auction. Other than missing the side panels and grill it appears to be almost in mint condition. The paint appears to be original and in very good condition. There are no cracks in the steering wheel and just minor cracks in the seat. It runs terrible but it has old gas. I'm hoping a good cleaning and fresh non-ethanol gas will cure that. All 4 tires are barely worn. It came with a mower and a snowblower. $625 for the whole package.
I have been reading about an engine oiling problem on slopes and side hills on the earlier engines. How do I tell if the engine has been replaced with the series II version. It does not have the Onan conversion kit in it.
Where is the best place to get printed manuals (operators/service/parts)? I'm thinking Jensale's would be a good place to start.
Thanks in advance.
