JD 350 Steering Linkage Question

My JD350 loader has never turned right very well, despite lots of adjusting. When I pull back on the lever, the 5/16" adjusting screw doesn"t hit the boss squarely, and has bent and slipped past the boss several times.

Recently I looked closer, and the shaft doesn"t appear to rotate AT ALL when the adjusting screw comes in contact with the boss. The brake band doesn"t look like it moves at all either.

MY QUESTION: To examine the steering linkage more closely, do I have to pull the final drive to remove/replace the linkage from the outside, or can the linkage be removed from under the seat?

If it has to be done from the outside, I know how to pull the final drive. But if it can be done from above, I"d appreciate any advice on how to get started.

the only way to repair is pull the final drive thats it once you have the final drive out you can do what you need good luck

I got lucky -- the linkage isn't broken after all.

I adjusted the big yoke on the outside of the inspection box to lengthen that part of the linkage by about 3/8".

That caused the shaft to rotate a few more degrees, which in turn allowed the brake adjuster screw to contact the boss squarely.

It steers better now than when I bought it.

Thanks to both of you for your help.
