JD 40 corn head

I tried to remove a stalk roll today. I could not get the roll pin to come out. I tried punch and hammer and an air hammer to no avail. What is the trick? Do I need to torch it out?

The 40 series corn heads use a 1/2 roll pin with a 5/16 one driven through the larger one. I drive the 5/16 one out and then the larger one comes out easily then. I have a 1/2 inch pin punch and use a two pound hammer. Don"t be afraid to hit it either. Little love tapps will just pean it in the hole. Really SMACK IT.
