jd 400 alternator upgrade ?

i have a jd400 loader b/h diesel engine and want to upgrade from the stock Motorola alt to a higher amp design one wire if possible can anyone tell me what else will fit it that will fit in place of the oem one with out much modification tia

Delco ? They make lots of different ones. HTH

Is your charge indicator a volt meter, ammeter, or an indicator light. If you have an indicator light you will lose that function with a one wire alternator.

A 72 Amp Delco 10SI or 12SI will fit with minor bracket mods and a pulley that fits it.

Connect large output wire to the Delco's output terminal along with a jumper wire from there to terminal #2 on the Delco and connect the pink wire from the "idiot light" formerly connected the Motorola's VR to the Delco's #1 terminal and you're done.

(Ignore and insulate any other small wires.
