I have a 4000. The serial numbers run in sequence with 4020?s. Pretty sure my plate says 4000. It is a 1970. Compared to 4020 no front pto. No shrouding around rock shaft. No second pto shaft provided but internals are there. Tach without knob to select a specific gear. Original setup batteries sit on open tray. Especially early 4000?s came with 34 inch rubber on single bevel rims. Axles 3 1/8 inch instead of 3 3/8 inch like 4020. May have missed some stuff.

Yep a B213R is a synchro 4000 similarly a T 213R is a 4020 synchro. You can look them up bu doing a google search. Good luck.

No reverse Syncro in the transmission. You should be able to feel or hear a little grinding when going into reverse if the tractor is still creeping forwards.

Probably the easiest are the axles are 3 1/8,tach is black and 3 pt is lighter. It seems the serial might start with a B but I don't have one here to verify. The serial numbers were the same sequence starting at201000 to 270288 there were 55,651 69/72 4020 and 8095 4000s so one of every 70 were 4000s Its funny they know exact number of power shifts were made in the 4000s but not 4020.I have several people call looking for serial numbers over 270000 but I have only seen a few.The 4000s do have a following and the HFWA ,A/C factory cab,38in rubber were all available in 71/72 If you want to find out everything about 4000s the June 19 Green Magazine had an in depth article.I am sure if you call 402-643-6269 you can get one.Not that it makes much difference but they had total production at 7987.Of course probably not to everyone but the value of a nice 4000 can exceed a nice 4020.A gas P.S.just sold a while back on Ernie Goebel sale for 60K+.The value of 20 series is steady but finding a nice lower hour 50 year old tractor are getting slimmer. I saw the first 4000 produced at Ernies before Keller family purchased it and didn't even look at it until I was told of its history as it was a well used dairy tractor from Wisconsin.
