JD 4030 injector pump

I have a Stanadyne injector pump on my 1975 4030. 3 of the fuel injector line's that hook up to the pump are leaking. 1 of them was spraying pretty good until I replaced the metal O rings on it and what they called a bolt. JD sold me the metal O rings, or washers. Is that really what is used? And if so how do I get them to stop leaking/ dripping? I really figured it would or should have rubber/plastic washers instead of what feels like metal?

Metal is what they are. A diesel shop told me there is a right and wrong way to install them. If you look closely the center of the washer is somewhat sharp on one side and rounded on the other(very hard to tell but there is a difference) The sharp side goes against the pump housing and towards the head of the bolt. The rounded sides go towards the line. Sometimes you have to loosen the bolts and wiggle them back and forth then tighten quickly.If you can't get the leak stopped a diesel shop can sell you copper washers that are softer and they seem to seal better.Those bolts will take more torque than you think. I hate leaks. Tom

I agree with Tom. They have to be tightened almost to the breaking point to seal.

And the mating surfaces have to be absolutely CLEAN.

As mentioned before get the bolts TIGHT. The 16225 steel washers are really hard. If you still have trouble get some Delphi line washers part # 5936 332C, they are a mild steel washer that will crush a bit and are easier to seal.

Thanks for the reply's guys.I thought the washers looked a little different but I am about half blind , ha. I tightened them suckers till I was cringing but I will give them a bit more. Where would I find the Delphi washers ?

I grew up with 3010 on up and this is the first time I ever heard of the washers needing to be put on a certain way . Remember you are trying to hold 2600 psi and they have to be tight . Torque is 35 ft. lbs .

I have heard of it but never paid any attention to it,,and I still don't see a reason for up or down,,I think they are a bit different because of the way they are punched out when made...most of the time it's a bit of dirt to cause the leak, or a damaged line end..

hello, make sure the line BANJO and pump mount surface are super clean, you can ask for the original COPPER washer for the 3010 tractor 1960 vintage.

JD spec's don't show that the T20055 washers are different from side to side.

I take a small hone stone and smooth up both sides of the line and but copper washers and they seal just fine. Don't be afraid to tighten them real good!
