JD 40T front wheel rim offset?

Am restoring a 53 JD 40T. Previous owner said the front wheel rims are off a Ford and have an offset of 2 1/2" which is too much offset to put wheels close together. The hub has 6 bolt holes on 6" centers, with a raised edge of 4.625" (4 5/8") for the rim opening. What is the correct offset for this tractor? Tractor is setup for 15" rims.

I believe that the offset is around 1 and a quarter of an inch.

If you contact 2 cylinder plus tractor salvage, they are offering the correct dished front wheels for the model MT and 40-420-430. I do believe that the front tire size is 5.50 16 or is it 15??? i can't remember, but talk to 2 cyl plus, they'll tell you.

Thanks Rob. Just sent email to 2 Cyl plus. The 40 actually came with 5X15 or 6X16 front rims. One was optional I guess. Have a great Christmas!

Actually, the parts book calls for 3x15 (JD3000T) or 4x16 (JD3002T). Both of these rims have a 1.12" offset and they are still available from Deere for $67.00 and $91.00, respectively. However, the new Deere rims will be made by Titan rather than EWC and will have some additional stampings that clearly tell the world they did not come from the factory on your tractor.
