JD 4200 PRO help

I have a 4200 60” belly deck bucket and backhoe also rear PTO. Was mowing all was good stopped for a break went to restart and a clicking noise started. Drove it to driveway.put legs down on backhoe and bucket down to check blades all was good. Tried again on blacktop same noise. Tractor sat a few days drains hydro fluid cleaned screen and changed filter. Screen had some not much metal as I stopped ASAP. However while I had the Filter draining I found what looks to be a needle bearing. All the pictures I see on JD manuals Show ball bearings NO needle bearings . Only makes the noise when trying PTO MID or REAR. Thanks

Hello GT, welcome to YT! In the link number 5 is PN F5102816 is shown as a needle bearing in the PTO drive line. (I used the search box to find needle bearings) JD 4200 parts catalog I would think that would be a very unlikely failure, but one never knows. That is the old version of the online parts catalog. If you attempt to place it in the cart and checkout to get a price you will be taken to the new parts book. There you will need to choose a dealer. Then you will need to re-enter the PN in the cart for the new system.
I would recommend disconnecting the mower PTO shaft from the tractor and run it to see if the noise stops which means the tractor itself is not the problem.

Let me be clear, I have no experience repairing that tractor model. I am just telling you where the parts book shows a needle bearing. To me that diagram shows like that bearing is near the front split line of the case. You can open if up if you are a 100 percent convinced the problem is inside. Post a photo of this needle you found next to a measuring tape. Do you have a hydro or gear drive?
I would make sure you have a repair manual before you attempt opening it up. Here is where you get them from Deere. Deere publications
