jd 4430 w 148 loader

I just picked up a nice 4430 tractor from my neighbor with a 148 loader. My question is if anyone has one of these with a joystick control & midmount coupler. This one just plugs into scv ports and is unhandy for anything but drawbar work. My dealer said that the midmount & joystick was no longer available. It is the old style coupler and needs to be switched to poineer atyle as we have nothing with that tip. Is there another outlet for this system or am I out of luck. The loader will probably be used mostly to pick up bales and a few stones since we have two other loader tractors.

Their should be information in your owner"s manual about hooking after-market to the power-beyond port to add a joystick valve to that tractor thus freeing the original valves for other work. For more information go to the John Deer site. Armand

Your dealer doesn"t want to make a sale. The boss just had JD put a joystick on the 4430 last summer. Same one that's in the 4450 with 740 loader.

It"s mounted slightly different than the one in the 4450 and works better than that one, I think being a quad instead of powershift helps. The one in the 4450 seems like it takes a longer reach to get a hold of it.

I like it better with the remotes running the loader. But that"s me.

A JD joystick kit is going to cost in the $1200-$1500 range. A closed center joystick control with cables can be purchased from a hyd supply business such as Surplus Center. Tee into hyd block(parts key 24A or 24B) to get pressure.

Return oil to hyd filter by purchasing or adding a port to hyd filter cover.

JD offers a kit to switch breakaway coupler to ISO or you could also use adapters.

You could also check with a Koyker dealer. They are copying some of the older Deere loaders and have the valve kits.
