JD 468 round baler kicker problem

On my 468 the baler doesn't kick the bales far enough. It works ok if it is downhill. Do I need new springs or do I need to rev the engine up a little faster. Tha nks. Roy

what rpms you running the tractor ? should be pto speed , what tractor you using ?

what I found helped a lot was to get the slop out of the pan linkage. I drilled the pin holes next size larger, 1/2" I think. Also need to run it at PTO speed as was mentioned.

If springs aren't broken on push bar then I think they're not the problem. Is gate lock valve in the fully open position? You could check the restriction orifice(parts key #29) for plugging or just remove it to speed gate/push bar operation.
