Tractor is jumping out of 3rd gear, need some suggestions as what to look for when I get in their. John Deere 50 model

Bad bearings letting the shafts drop out of position. Weak shifter pawl springs. Gear Teeth edges rounded off from shifting on the go. These are the major things I found wrong in most of them. I have been into a lot of them and very seldom did I find the lower counter shaft endplay in specs. They usually have a ton of end play from years of banging around in there and bad bearings.
There were also shift forks available with interlocks built into them to help with that problem. Might be hard to find them now ?
