Hi Folks
I have a JD 5210 (Year 1999) that I just purchased. There are some problems that need to be addressed. The hydraulics are very slow and very jerky. I was thinking that I should change hydraulic filter and oil and clean the suction screen is there anything else I should look at ? Also is there a liter weight hydraulic oil I should use ?Like I said this tractor is new to me and I don't know much about it.
I'm also in need of a manual for this tractor so any info on where to get one and which one I should get would be appreciated.
I have more questions but will save them for a later date
Thank you

Your 5210 uses JD Hy Gard or an aftermarket UTHF that meets the JDM J20C specs, NOT a plain hydraulic oil or you will do damage to it.

You can download a free operator's manual from the JD Ag & Turf Bookstore. Here is a link to the bookstore.

John Deere AG & Turf Bookstore

Click on Equipment Publications.

Enter 5210 in the model search box and search.

You should get a drop-down list with 4 results. Guessing you have a North American tractor click on the line for 5210- Tractors- Base Units- North America. You will get a list of the manuals JD offers for your tractor.

The Operator's Manual is available in 3 languages, pick the one you want. Click the download arrow to the right of the title and a free copy will be downloaded to your device. You can save it to your device (and print it if you wish). Hard copies of the Operator's Manual are purchase items as are all forms of the Technical (service) manual and Parts Catalog.

The online parts catalog is free to use. Below is a link to it. Read carefully as it covers several of the sister models to the 5210.

Thank you , this will get me started

hello,, after you service the screen & change the filter,, check the hose clamps on the suction pipe from the pump back to the filter,, the hoses on the end of the steel pipe age and get hard and clamps need to be tightened,, because these conditions cause the pump to suck air making hydraulics slow..

Yes thank you, I actually just ordered both suction hoses thinking that they could be dry rotted. Can't really see that they are , but for the price thought it was worth changing.
