Agreed to get this thing running, regretting not staying in our lane ( farmall) Renee couldn't get the brass nozzles (?) out. Apparently there is a couple little balls under there? Any recommendations for a rebuilder? ....... tractor starts right up runs around in 1-3 fine, 4th gear needs a little choke to run smooth. But it's popping occasionally out the exhaust.

The nozzles screw out from under the slotted plugs, Did you remove the small frost/welsh plugs from the sides of the carb ? If a soaking doesn't fix it in carb cleaner, let it soak in vinegar for a few hours.

Go to the Robert's Carburetor website and order their $14.95 Educational Video on Duplex Carburetors, it will get you "up to speed" on these carbs like you are on the RED stuff! They also have specialty tools and parts, as well, or will repair and return it IF you are willing to cough up $200 plus parts.

The larger 2 cylinders backfire horrendously when lean. It's enough to make you tear the thing apart the afternoon it does it before the neighbors come over asking what you been shooting.

A bit of heat on those nozzles can help. I have also been naughty and drilled down a ways into the brass nozzles with the proper size drill bit slightly smaller than the skinny brass tube and then used a good sized easy out in it farther down. They usually come out pretty good.

There are some good videos on duplex carburetors to step you through it from some carburetor suppliers. My favorite free one is from J and D productions website a lot of info there.

You can expect 200 dollars in parts as well in addition to what wore out said in labor to get one of the comprehensive kits with all the brass fittings.
Parts are available at Yesterdays tractor as well.

They also look incredibly sharp if painted and then rebuilt with all the brass fittings popping out.

Grandpa if I can help you I will. As others said get a book or the video on them. Those 60's were a good tractor and run well. My thoughts you need to keep in mind any governor, manifold, valve, distributor and timing issues. They are much different than a Farmall as you now see. If you send the carb out, I shudder to think what it will cost! Look online there are many carb outfits Roberts, Treadwell's and others. Also step over to the John Deere forum (were not that bad) and a lot of knowledge there.
