Jd 60 or a head

Which head(if worked over to the same degree) would make more potential power? The 60 would have the duplex carb and intake where the a would be stock late a intake and carb. This question is assuming that everything is the same.

The 60 head will produce the most power if for no other reason than it has a tighter combustion chamber. With the same block and pistons the compression ratio for a 60 head is at least a half point higher than a late A head. The increase won't be massive but will be noticeable, with the duplex intake helping smoothness as well. Mike

Just an FYI, the 60 head will not fit into the frame of a late A tractor without some serious notching of the frame. Not sure what you are planning but didn't want you to figure that tidbit of info out the hard way. The 60 head will fit the angle iron frame A tractors but not the late ones with the pressed steel..
