JD 620A Plow

I just picked up a F620AH 4 X 16" trailer plow. It was used regularly and set aside once the person got a larger tractor and plow many years ago, so it was put away (I assume) in working condition. Have a few questions about it:

1. It had a 15" tail wheel. Is that correct? My old 55AB 3x14" trip lift has a 12" tire, and the rears of both plows look to be the same construction.
2. There appears to be a spot on where the hydraulic lift connects to where someone hit it with a torch and also welded on the pc where the hydraulic lift goes. Why would that be done? Is it a weak area? Will it affect plowing?
3. When disconnected from the tractor, it sits really low on the ground (on all 4 bottoms). Is there supposed to be a support foot to hold the front end up, or is this typical? (my first hydraulic lift plow).
4. What year would this be? I bought an advertisement dated 8/1960 that shows this plow, but does not call it out as a F620A. I know it is a F620A as I can still make out the stencil on the beam.
5. Where can I locate parts for this New Gen plow? I need (possibly) the welded and torched parts, hose rod, hose hanger, (possibly) 12" rear wheel and tire, and decals.

Here is a picture of the torched out and welded area. Where I will be pulling it with a 730D. Should make it snort a little!

I see NO reason for the torched part of the frame and that is going to need some good fixing before you can raise it all the way up..

The vertical plate is supposed to stay between the 2 frame rails.. There is supposed to be a Pin that can be put in two different ways..1 locks the plow in the "UP" position and in the other way, allows the hydraulic cylinder to control the up and down...
If you are going to pull that pull-type 4-16, you better have GOOD rear tires and some weight on the tractor..
I pull a 4-16 F-145 Semi-Mount and I need 2 rear weights on each side and about 250 lbs minimum on the front..
I can pull it in 2nd and third and it it will just barely be starting to smoke..
A Pull-Type gives you no weight transfer and I think you may have about all you can pull, traction wise...
An "R" will pull that 4-16 anywhere with no added weight.

The 15" tail wheel on your 620 plow is correct, but I think it was an option. I have a F620 plow too and it has the large tail wheel. Much better than the small 12". You don't want to replace it with the 12 inch. Most wearing parts, shares, coulters, land-slides, bottoms etc. are available from JD. I have a parts book and can give you the part numbers if you want. When my plow is up with the lock pin in, it has about 4 inches clearance to the ground. So like someone said, the pin and hole that locks it up when disconnected might be missing. My parts book indicates the F620H was built from 1960 to 1963 and F620A from 1963 on. Think they built these to about 1965. Not sure what the difference is between F620H and F620A. In my land, don't think you could pull it with a 730. Been pulling it with my 6230 and you need 4-wheel drive. I haven't tried my 830 on this plow yet as my ground is hard packed red clay corn land. But I do pull my JD 66 4-14 with the 830. I would guess that the "A" means it was a manual lift and the "H", Hydraulic lift..
Looks like yours may be a home-made conversion and it could be anyone's guess if it works properly..
You may need to tweek it some..looks pretty hay-wire made...for a conversion...
You need to get it to raise and lower the required distance before you can plow..
The Pin for locking it in "Transport Position" is important, find a way to do that..
