JD 6600 unloading auger drive

Ok, so I am almost done with harvesting my beans and the bearing on the shaft that is driven by the belt under the seat goes to pieces. I don't think that pulley has been off since the day they built the combine. Does anyone have experience with this particular repair that could share some advice as to how to get the pulley off or the shaft out so I can replace the bearing? I am truly out of ideas at the moment.

Thanks for any advice you may have.

I just had that pulley off while working on
a 4420. It had a cotter key and castle nut
holding it on.

I removed those, then threaded a solid nut
on the shaft, flush with the end. I then put
a pry bar behind the pulley, and rapped on
the solid nut with a hammer to knock the
pulley loose. There are holes for set
screws on that pulley, but ours had no set
screws in them. The pulley is keyed on that
shaft. Penetrating oil helps.

With pulley and key off the shaft, you can
get to the bearing. Hopefully your belt is
okay, otherwise replacing that belt
involves removing the other belts from the
engine shaft.

The bearing on the right end of that shaft
is easier. It is accessed after removing a
roller chain and sprocket.

The worst part is working on your head
under that seat.

Hope this helps. Good luck!
