JD 70 and Athens Disk

I used my 1953 JD 70 a few weeks ago to disk up some new ground for a garden. I'm not sure how wide my Athens disk is, maybe 7', but it was way too small for the 70. The sales brochure of implements for the 50-60-70 series shows JD made a 9' three point lift disk just for the 70, but I've never seen one.

Yeah, it's nice to have a tractor tough enough to handle the big jobs without constantly straining or bogging down. I used this same tractor to plow the ground with my 3x14" Model 43 Massey Ferguson plow before disking.

Get that plow greased before it gets rusty!. LOL

Haha. I usually keep it greased. It rained the day after I plowed (before I could get a coat on it), and this was the result.
