Quick Question. I currently have a JD 70 diesel standard. It has 18.4X26 tires on it. Will a 23.1 fit on the current rims?

A 23.1X26 should go on a 20" wide rim. If your 18.4X26 is on the correct rim for that tire, it will be 16" wide. The 23.1X26 would really look "ballooned" out on the 16" rim. If you can't find 20X26" rims, your current rims can be cut/spliced/welded to make them 20" wide. Measure what you have now and then make a decision.

Your 18.4x26's should be on a 16" x26" rim, the 23.1x26's take a 20" x26" rim, FOUR INCHES wider, so while you may be able to squeeze the tire on that narrow of a rim, it will be crowned too much, pinched in at the rim too much, and will really stress the tire bead, may break the reinforcing wires inside the bead which ruins the tire.
