JD 7000 planter weight.

Anyone know the weight of a 7000 6 row. Planning on sell since I have retired .Had a couple buy wanting to know the weight .Bare frame no fertilizer or insecticide boxes.

The 1977 price book shows a base weight of 2865 lbs for a drawn (not conservation) 6 row narrow planter including marker arms and disks. Fertilizer openers, fertilizer distribution, coulters, insecticide boxes, and monitor system would be considered additional weight. If this is a situation where it is being shipped international then allowances need to be made for any debris in the box tube and rust. Best to have it cross a scale so no surprises. If just towing with a 1/2 ton pick up truck should not be any problems. Just be prepared with air tank (to pump up soft tires, lighting and marking such as flags and SMV sign, disconnect drive chains from wheels, use transport lock apparatus, ideally grease wheel bearings which is an involved process, spare tire(s) if possible, jack, blocks, and patience. Plan a route where the planter can readily get off of the road if something happens along the way. Sundays have less traffic but the dealer is closed should a problem develop. I would say NY got it, mine is a little more with all the no till and Fertlizer boxes and row starter set up.
