JD 7000 planter

My son just got a JD 7000 planter with no book. Can anyone tell us what sprokets to use for beans. What rate it will give us etc. Maybe even a copy of those pages? Thanks Or even a site to go to.

Are you using bean cups or meters? What row spacing?

Cups are the dishes with the divets in them correct? I think it is the cups and its 30" rows.

You will want to get the manual, should be available through JD. There are other items on that planter that will need adjusting.

Sorry, I bought the manual and I've used it a hundred times. Get one.

Better see the dealer. There are serial number breaks so one 7000 might not have the same sprocket combination as other 7000's. Jim

Yup,you have the feed cups.How many teeth are on the driven and driver gears? This will tell us if you have an early or later model 7000.The settings are different.

When we used to use the cups,we shot for a bushel of beans per acre.It was hard to dial that in because the seed size was always different from year to year.That's one of the (many)negs with the feed cups.If yo plan on planting many acres,I'd strongly suggest getting Kinze bean meters for perfect spacing and rate.

For now ,count the sprocket teeth and I'll look in the book tomorrow.

If you are using the double run feed cup (cup about 4 inch diameter) which was the original meter for the 7000 you will need both the seeds per pound and the pages to adjust. Those meters planted pounds per acre not seeds.

Kinze bean meters (flat disk bout 10 inches) you are planting either 4 or more likely 5 times the corn rate depending on the disk you have. Blue disks for larger seed are 4 times the size. The much more common black disk are 5 times corn rate.

Don't know what the JD radial meter is.

Local dealer put together a transmission update kit which gives the same ratios as a 7200. If you have that setup you need the pages out of a 7200 book. This one is identified by the sprockets being all in one cluster instead of pairs like the original.

For the short run your local dealer should be able to copy off the pages you need to get going. For the long run you really do need to get the book. Unless the planter is pristene a service manual and parts book might be a good idea.

Oh by the way you will need the configuration also. IE 4,6,8,12,16,or 24 row and type of folding if it folds, also is it mounted (7100) or trailing (7000).

Found it several times online when the computer was closer than the manual, but - that was always the corn chart. Can't see anything out there for the cups! See a few for the radial meters, but not the cups. Sorry. Been a decade since I ran beans through my 7000.

Older 7000 have the 2x long links and sprockets, so you may have to adjust any numbers you get by half or double, depending on which situation.... A 9-tooth dprocket on the older long-link would be a 18-tooth on the regular length roller chain.

I did beens last year for the first time with my 7000. I left the gear ratio the same as I do for corn. Used the bean cups not the meters. If I remember right, I was shooting for 130,000 to 140,000 population on 30" rows. Had a really nice stand. To bad not enough rain.
