JD -- 71 planter

They are few and far between and don't go cheap. If you do find one, plates are another big expense as new ones are in the $150 and up range. Roeter's Farm Equipment does list used plates for $50 each, though.
Another option instead of the 71 attachment would be a 33 planter unit. The going prices for these units would be about the same as what you'll spend on a small seed attachment and they are a lot easier to find. The 33 used the same hopper and plates as what was used for the 71 attachment.
 
thanks for the reply. We have had the conversation about the 33 planter earlier. The 33 was what I orginglly wanted but I discovered that they are rare and plates are almost existant. the 71 was the next choice but the situation is the same.. My third choice is a sugar beet setup for a 71 and just make do.
