JD 720,730 gear box ????

I was just told that there were 3 different gear boxes made, and the one where 2nd gear is above reverse it the most saught after because it has the fastest gears. Is this true ? School me on them if it is .

I got this from Clooney's (best John Deere man to ever lay eyes on this board) post from a few years ago.

Deere offered some optional gear sets for the 720-730. The big controller of quadrant & gear lay-out is whether or not it has the optional high speed [8 mph] 5th gear.
~Standard gear set up = 1st in the upper L/H corner with 1, R, 2 & 4 on the L/H side & 3, 5, & 6 on the right.
~Optional 5th gear = 2nd in the upper L/H corner with 2, R, 1, & 3 on the L/H side & 5, 4, & 6 on the right.
~With the optional 5th gear you gain a higher 5th gear but give up the creeper 1st gear.
~Make sure your speeds match the quadrant as I have seen a few with the wrong quadrant on that doesn't match the gear speeds
